Land Bank Enters Session on Real Estate, Litigation
Other Committee · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Nantucket Islands Land Bank golf courses beat budget despite a rainy August, as staff move to curb unpermitted vending on conservation land. Staff told the commission Sconset Golf's revenue ran 8 percent over budget with gross profit up 7 percent, while Miacomet Golf Club showed a roughly $120,000 shortfall, mostly tied to insurance-accounting timing rather than declining play. Staff described a summer uptick in online-booked "concierge" setups, saying vendors sometimes just show up with "a cabana set up, or a table with some champagne," and said the Land Bank is aligning enforcement with the town this winter.
Commissioners approved a six-month marketing trial with Marina Morgan and voted to switch golf point-of-sale systems to Lightspeed by the end of March. The commission then entered executive session to discuss pending litigation strategy and a real estate negotiation, with no plan to return to open session.
