Other Committee · Meeting of October 2, 2026
Nantucket's Contract Review Committee opened its fiscal 2028 human services grant cycle, with the town's funding pool rising to $1 million. Chair Veronica Bolchuk said the jump from $628,000 to $825,000 in general human services funding, plus a steady $175,000 for substance misuse, reflects a more than 21 percent rise in the Massachusetts cost of living since 2020 rather than new services. The committee, voting 4-0 by roll call on routine items, also fielded a question from Health Imperatives' April Quigley confirming the $100,000 substance-misuse grant cap.
Member Lee Tesser praised the panel's Sept. 19 Select Board presentation, saying board members "were staggered." Applications are due Oct. 19, with interviews Nov. 13 and deliberations Nov. 20. Three letters of intent arrived early, from the Nantucket Artists Association and Fairwinds, which sought $50,000 for technology upgrades.
