NANTUCKET — The Nantucket Contract Review Committee approved its first-quarter grant reports and flagged a $166,375 gap between funding requests and its roughly $1 million budget. Chair Veronica Bolzik said total requests reached $1,166,375 against a combined $1 million in substance misuse and human services funding. Member Linda Williams argued the committee lacks the itemized budgets the Community Preservation Committee requires, saying CPC gets breakdowns "down to the penny." Staffer Jericho Mele reported three fiscal 2027 grantees, Nantucket Community Television, the Visiting Nurses Association and New Hope, withdrew before signing contracts, sending roughly $75,000 back to the town's general fund.
Williams opposed seeking that money back from the Select Board, saying "I'm in the camp of let it go." All votes passed 5-0 by roll call. Deliberations on new awards are set for November 20.
