Other Committee · Meeting of July 21, 2026
Nantucket forms Transportation Public Access Advisory Committee, consolidating three predecessor boards. The new committee, known as TPAC, held its inaugural meeting July 21, unanimously electing Ian Golding as chair, Lisa Eperstein as vice chair, and Gordon Oktoloni as secretary in three separate roll-call votes, each 7-0. The body merges the former Roads and Right-of-Way Committee, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and the Traffic Safety Committee under a single panel tied directly to town staff.
Transportation Program Manager Mike Burns updated members on a downtown parking-sidewalk inventory, completed bike path crossing signage on four paths, a pending county commissioners vote on eminent domain easements for the Tom Nevers Road multi-use path, and a two-year update schedule for the region's federally required Long Range Transportation Plan beginning October 2026. NRTA Administrator Gary Roberts reported the transit authority finished fiscal year 2026 at 495,000 individual passenger trips, up 12 percent year-over-year and roughly 70 percent above 2022, and announced another year of fare-free bus funding from the state through December 31, 2027.
