NANTUCKET -- May 12, 2026, Nantucket Land Bank approves beehive policy, two pig enclosure sites, and a $273,894 change order at May 12 meeting. The commission voted unanimously on all items, adopting a new staff-drafted beehive policy to govern hive placement on Land Bank properties, balancing honey production against competition with native pollinators, and authorizing contracts to rent pigs from Dylan Wallace and Caroline Borelli for invasive-species control at two locations, one overrun with poison ivy and one with spreading sumac. Change order five, totaling $273,894, covers design services for the Affordable Housing Trust on the East Creek Road building-relocation project and will be paid entirely by the trust, though it flows through the Land Bank's contracts with OPM Vertex and designer SMRT. The commission also heard that three historic buildings moved off the East Creek Road site in a single day on May 12, with two more scheduled for May 19, and reported April transfer revenue of $672,090 across 76 transactions, 60 of which were exempt.
