Select Board · Meeting of October 28, 2026
Nantucket Select Board paused a $15 million sewer building and sent a $203 million capital wish list to committee for review. Deputy Town Manager Rick Sears said the sewer administration facility is "somewhat paused for fiscal 28" over debt-service concerns, while a $10 million Children's Beach pump-station relocation awaits a townwide stormwater master plan. Member Jill Vieth said she was "100 percent positive" the town cannot repeat last year's roughly $200 million in capital spending.
The board separately approved a National Grid utility license for the Tacoma Green affordable housing project and corrected a 2021 yard-sale deed at 57 Hulbert Avenue to protect beach access. During public comment, a former assistant supervisor in the town's Communications Department, Patrick Considine said he filed a Massachusetts State Ethics Commission complaint against Town Manager Gibson, alleging she improperly commented on litigation involving her husband, Deputy Police Chief Charles Gibson.
