Nantucket Capital Program Committee stalls on scoring $116 million nursing home before pro forma lands. Deputy Town Manager Rick Sears said the town hired CliftonLarsonAllen to build an independent financial model for the proposed Our Island Home facility at Sherburne Commons, due by the end of February, after the $116 million construction appropriation cleared a town election but missed the two-thirds vote needed at the 2025 Annual Town Meeting. Committee member Howard said, "I find it very difficult to evaluate the project until we have the pro forma." Select Board member Tom Dixon called the facility "a very, very unique thing," noting the board still put it back on the 2026 warrant despite competing projects like a roughly $7 million employee housing plan.
Separately, the DPW's Drew Patnode reported $6.4 million was shifted from annual road accounts to the Surfside sewer project, offset by a $4 million MassWorks grant, with brick sidewalk and curbing costs up 30 percent in two years.
