Planning Board recommends two zoning warrant articles unanimously

Nantucket Planning Board unanimously backs two zoning warrant articles for Town Meeting. Deputy Director of Planning Megan Trudel told the board a citizen petition capping ground cover on lots split under state "81L" subdivision law will not apply retroactively: "If you have an 81L plan that was endorsed prior to the notice of the first public hearing, this update does not apply to you." Member Joseph Topham, who worked on earlier drafts, said the article isn't "restricting ground cover more than reasonable." The board also voted 5-0 to positively recommend rezoning part of a Toombs Court lot to Commercial Neighborhood, opting for a private deed restriction over one enforced by the town. The 81L bylaw article needs two-thirds support at Town Meeting; the Toombs Court rezoning needs a 50 percent threshold.

Chair Dave Iverson and Vice Chair Nathaniel Lowell joined every 5-0 roll call.
